Pyramid Display Materials, formed in the Spring of 2002, has invested £400,000 in state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, including two Striebig vertical panel saws.

Striebig Standard III TRK models have been supplied to sales branches in Manchester and Newcastle where a range of plastic panels are converted to the sizes specified by customers, who are screen printers, sign makers and digital print houses.

The panels, mainly expanded foam PVC, acrylic and polycarbonate, arrive from suppliers as large format sheets ranging in size from 1220 mm x 2440 mm up to 3050 mm x 2050 mm, and from 2 mm to 19 mm in thickness.

Striebig Wall Saws chosen for continual high output

Designed for continual high output the Standard III series represents the ultimate in manual vertical panel saw cutting technology. Models are available in frame sizes from 3300 mm x 1920 mm up to 5300 mm x 2200 mm, making them suitable for use with the largest sheet material. Precision-built in Switzerland, the saw operates to an outstanding accuracy of 0.1 mm.

It offers full-surface support guaranteeing that panels lie perfectly flat in position, with thin panels able to be sawn without a backing piece. Other features include a 15mm deep cutting penetration, spring covers on the hood cover for fast saw-blade changes, automatic saw blade power brake when opening the hood cover, automatic repositioning after each cut and an endless tape measure readable at eye level.

With its highly efficient built-in TRK dust extraction system chips and dust are deposited well away from the operator in closed spaces behind the support with the waste removed by the external extraction system. Among the wide range of optional extras available to boost productive capacity is an integral scoring saw guaranteed to cut easily and provide smooth edges on even the toughest of plastic materials.

“As far as vertical panel saws are concerned, the Striebig has to represent the best value for money on the market,” said Alf Murphy, Pyramid’s Manchester branch manager. “It is easy to use, always give us a clean cut whatever the denseness of the sheet material we are sizing, has proved totally reliable and is competitively priced.”

He added that the space-saving benefits provided by the vertical saw were not a major issue at Manchester, but have proved a big advantage at the company’s smaller Newcastle branch.

Striebig saws are available from sole UK agent, T.M. Machinery Sales, of Leicester, who also provided Pyramid with Al-Ko mobile extraction units to handle the dust from the saws.

T.M. Machinery Sales is part of the TM Partnership Group that offers the panel processing sector a combined consultancy, specialist sales, installation and after-sales service. All machines are backed with the original manufacturer’s guarantee, agent’s guarantee and a flexible full service warranty.
