WORK
BEGINS ON £6.7 MILLION STRIEBIG FACTORY EXPANSION
The
groundbreaking ceremony for Striebig's new £6.7
million production unit has taken place at the
company's site in Littau, Switzerland.
The
new 1,500 sq m plant is needed because of the
steady increase in demand for the company's range
of innovative and space-saving vertical panel
saws.
It
is expected to be ready for occupation in the
Spring of 2007 and will enable the company to
achieve substantially increased production levels
well into the future.
Since
the world's first vertical panel saw was produced
by Ludwig Striebig back in 1958, the brand has
become the undisputed global market leader. Almost
90 per cent of the output from the Swiss plant,
which employs around 80 people, is exported to
countries around the world.
 |
| The
space-saving Compact is one of the four popular
models in the Striebig vertical panel saw
range. |
It
also dominates its home market, with a Striebig
machine to be found in every one of the country's
6,500 joineries.
There
are four models in the range; the Compact, Standard,
Control and Evolution, each available in a wide
choice of sizes for the accurate and efficient
cutting of wood-based, plastic and aluminium sheet
material.
They
are available in the UK and Ireland from exclusive
distributor, T.M. Machinery Sales Ltd, of Leicester,
which has held the franchise since 1996.
Said
sales coordinator, Matt Pearce: "We have around
a 35 per cent market share with over 1,000 Striebig
saws in use in the UK and Ireland. Their popularity
is shown by the large number of repeat orders
we regularly receive, especially from some of
the UK's largest panel processors.
"With
the planned increase in output from the new factory,
our customers should expect even faster delivery
times in the future."
