Specialist fine art forwarder Williams & Hill has bought two Striebig Compact vertical panel saws for its newly-opened warehouse near London’s Heathrow airport.
The saws cut a variety of sheet materials, including plywood, OSB and Tri-Wall high performance corrugated board, needed for the construction of bespoke packing cases, plus foam and polystyrene used to line the interiors if required.
They join a Striebig Econom II model which was purchased shortly after the business was formed in 2002. Said the company’s warehouse manager Martin Edwards: “The original Striebig has done a terrific job and is a great piece of equipment.
“Before we recently opened our fourth warehouse, needed to cope with an increase in business, I did look at some other makes of saws. The fact that we have had no problems with the Striebig in 11 years, coupled with the excellent service we get from the supplier, prompted us to buy two more.”
Striebig Compacts chosen to cope with increase in business
The entry-level Striebig Compact model was chosen as best for the job because every packing case that is made needs to be a different size, with numerous repeat cuts unnecessary.
The two new Compacts are a model 5220, with a cutting range of 4600 x 2200 x 60mm, and a larger model 6220, cutting 5350 x 2200 x 60mm
All Compact series models combine exemplary ergonomics and high-quality visual appearance with unmatched functionality. They feature central support and small parts support over the entire length of the saw, making the cutting of small work pieces very easy.
They are suitable for cutting practically all sheet materials, including MDF, plaster board, plastics and aluminium panels. A scoring saw is available as an option to prevent laminate panel edges from tearing out.
Each of the nine models in the Compact series is now available in an AV version incorporating an automatic cut cycle facility to make them even more productive. This feature was previously only found on Striebig’s more expensive models.
Striebig saws are available from exclusive UK agent, T.M. Machinery Sales Ltd of Leicester.
