Striebig, the undisputed global market leader in vertical panel saw technology, has moved into a new headquarters building in Littau, Switzerland. Built at a cost of E12.5 million (£8.7 million), the attractive four-storey modernist building houses production areas in the basement and on the ground floor. On the two higher floors are the company’s administrative offices together with a spacious showroom and extensive demonstration and training facilities.

Striebig has a strong commitment to safeguarding the local environment and its management system has been ISO 14001 certified for several years. Protecting the environment was therefore a prime consideration when it came to the design of the building and the choice of suitable production equipment.

Amongst several environmentally-friendly features is the new powder coating system which delivers an excellent surface quality to the company’s complete range of saws, contributing to their already legendary durability.

It uses the latest environmental technology and is totally solvent free to protect the health of employees. All of the waste powder is recovered automatically and is recycled for future use.

A brand new 1,500sq m plant for Striebig

The new 1,500 sq m plant was built because of the steady increase in demand for the company’s range of innovative and space-saving vertical panel saws around the world, including the UK and Ireland. It will enable Striebig to achieve substantially increased production levels well into the future.

Since the world’s first vertical panel saw was produced by Ludwig Striebig in 1958, the brand has become the global market leader. Almost 90 per cent of the output from the Littau plant, near Lucerne, is exported to countries around the world.

There are currently four models in the Striebig range; the entry-level Compact, the Standard, the Evolution, and the top-of-the-range Control. All four models come in a wide choice of sizes for the accurate and efficient cutting of wood-based, plastic and aluminium sheet material.

Striebig saw are available in the UK and Ireland from exclusive distributor, T.M. Machinery Sales Ltd, of Leicester, which has held the franchise since 1996.

Said its sales coordinator, Matt Pearce: “Worldwide, Striebig have a commanding 35 per cent market share with over 1,000 Striebig saws in use in the UK and Ireland alone. Their popularity is shown by the large number of repeat orders we regularly receive, especially from some of the largest panel processors.

“With the planned increase in output from the new factory, plus the recent expansion of our stock-holding facilities in Leicester, customers can now expect even faster delivery times in the future.”
